Default H1-B / Liverpool Uni Online M.Sc

Hi All,

I am an IT professional with 7+ years experience, but like so many other people on here, judging by the posts, I have no degree.

What I'm actually here to ask is whether the Distance Learning M.Sc offered by the University of Liverpool (the real one, in Liverpool UK: http://www.liv.ac.uk , under "Online Masters Programme") would suffice for H1-B requriements?

The US Embassy in London are being incredibly cryptic about the whole thing and haven't actually given me a straight answer.

The only reason I ask is that a colleague in a similar situation to me completed the course in ONE YEAR.

So - if I were to do similar, and complete it in one year, would this then enhance my chances of qualifying for an H1-B? I appreciate there are no guarantees - but is there anything to "dirty" the M.Sc on offer, given that it's attainable without a final invigilated examination.

Failing that, does anyone have any (legal) legitimate suggestions? Would an OU degree suffice if this one did not?

I look forward to using these boards more in future

Thanks

Degrees issued by accredited universities count.
There are just so many "diploma mills" out there that issue worthless "degrees"
based on "life experience", that there may be a check necessary to make sure
that the university is in fact accredited.
The degree has to be comparable to a 4-year US bachelor degree. There are a
bunch of degree evaluation agencies that certify if a degree is comparable.

Many thanks for your reply.

This certainly makes me feel a little bit better about things: the University of Liverpool is very well respected at most places of employment in the UK. Certainly been OK whenever I've had to hire someone

I'll search out some of these agencies online and see if any of them could help me on this one thing.

Thanks again

see my reply to the Canadian wanting to work in florida

you need 12 years experience (professional level, same field)
-or a combo of schooling(uni) and experience

the proof/justification lies in getting your experience together with your
school info to a 'US based Educational Evaluation Consultanty - that specialises in understanding the school process for INTL countries

thats what i did...
