H1-B interview and I-797B
Hi all,
I am one of the fortunate few to obtain an H1-B visa. I had my interview in London yesterday and all went well and I was told that the visa is approved and that my passport will be returned with the visa in it.
I was just wondering about the I-797B document. Now that the visa is approved do I need it anymore? I ask this question as it wasn't returned to me after the interview. Is this usual? Do they return it along with the passport/visa?
Thanks for your help.

My hubby & I have to return to UK for H1 interview after running out of time on L1 visas. As it has been a few years since we had to go for our last interview and our company lawyer knows didly squat, what do we need to have with us (other than a good book for the 3+ hour wait). Also, about how long is it taking to get them back and do you have to wait until october 1st before you can travel?
Thanks in advance

I did the H1-B London interview thing in July.
The I-797 should contain details of how to contact the embassy. If London
is your chosen Embassy, you can have your appointment in London or Belfast;
the choice is yours.
It takes about 34 days to get the appointment i.e. if you phoned today, the
earliest appointment is in 34 days time. If you plead hardship, you may get
an "emergency appointment", which can be as little as 7 days time.
When you make the appointment, they send you a confirmation letter detailing
what you need.
Basically, passport, I-797, DS-156 and maybe 157 (if I recall correctly),
photos (which meet a certain criteria - which UK passport booths cannot do,
and cash/credit-card (for the passport return delivery service. If you have
to pay a fee, then you will need a stamped receipt of payment (you pay the
money directly into the bank. You cannot pay them directly).
The rules and regs seem to say you can enter the US 10 days before the H1
starts. So I guess that's 10 days before 1 Oct.
