Hi,
lets assume that there are chances for one to get either an H-1B or an L-1. What is
the better visa to go for? What are the not-so ovbious differences between these two?
Thanks, Carsten

It's slightly better to be on a H1. If you are on a L1 & want to switch jobs, it
would be a fresh H1.i.e. you would have to wait 3-4 months till the visa is approved.
If you are on a H1 & want to switch jobs, it would be a transfer of H1. You can join
the new company as soon as they get the reciept for their filing. Also, I think
labour isn't done again so it would be faster.
This will also help in case you are laid off.
There are 2 types of L1 - managerial or regular. I was talking above about the L1
regular. If you are going to come as a L1 Managerial, that would be better coz in
that case you don't have to do labour certification for your greencard.
