Hi,

My company X is undergoing a merger with a competitive company Y.

I started my application for a Green Card with company X, and I am now in the beginning
of the I-140 application.

Within a short time the merger will take place and the new company Y will take over
company X. This is expected to happen before my I-140 is approved.

Company Y promissed to continue the GC application, after the merger.

I am told to expect an additional 1 year delay in my application, in order to get the
lawyers transfer the GC sponsorship to the new company.

Is it true that it takes about a year to get the GC sponsorship changed? (INS Vermont)

Should I, rather, ask company Y to start a new GC petition, since it takes less than a
year to get an I-140?

Any comments / advice are highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc J.
