Green Card Stamping Help
I am pursuing Green Card for myself. My spouse being a US citizen is
petitioning for me. I submitted I-130 in Vermont. I could have
submitted it in Boston directly but the INS website does not mention
that. Nonetheless, I got my I-130 approved and submitted I-485 in
Boston. Paperworks and everything was alright and I was scheduled for
an interview today (july 17th 2003). My paperworks were found flawless
but the Immigration officer hold on to my stamping because somehow
because of filing in Vermont and then in Boston, INS had generated two
alien numbers and is waiting for some form to arrive from Vermont. He
mentioned that the form was requested in July 10th and takes about two
to three weeks to arrive. He also mentioned that INS will sent out a
mail to me once the form arrives and I have to go to INS office once
more to get the stamping done.
Now I feel nervous about the whole thing after hearing scary stories
from people about Green Card stamping. I feel helpless since I have a
very unique case to deal with and there is no contact for Boston INS
other than going in person, which is very inconvenient for office
goers. If someone had similar experience or have knowledge of similar
situation, I would appreciate if you can shed your insight on this and
show the next step I should take.
