Default Green Card interview approved today in Charlotte

Hi all,
My journey is finally over with the AOS process. Today my husband and I went
to the Charlotte office for our interview and 30 minutes later we walked out
with a stamp in my passport and waiting for the card to arrive via mail. The
whole process was very smooth, started in August 2003, had my interim EAD in
Nov 2003, renewed in July 2004 online and got the real card in 4 weeks. Had
biometrics done in March 2004 and now the interview was a breeze.

Background info: Came to US on H1B in March 2001 and married my US boyfriend
October of 2001.

Good luck you all in the AOS process. There is light in the end of the
tunnel if your marriage based AOS is based on the real thing.... fraudulent
ones... that's another story.

hi Jaana and Jim,
congrats for the smooth experience! I am still waiting for my GC for i have done my interview in Nov. the officer said it might take 1-2 months and i am not in hurry in getting my carreer world back (not ready to be apart with my 3-month-old baby yet!) so i think i can be little more patient in waiting.

again, congrats!

Hi Jaana,

Congrats on your smooth process recently. Things seemed to move
quickly for you...

My Charlotte interview is also coming up and I am in the process of
preparing, along with my spouse.

Any tips that you can provide will be appreciated.

Were their any specific questions asked, and key paperwork submitted?
Did you submit a new I-864 form and passport style photos?

Congrats again and Thanks.

Hi Avalon,
If your marriage is legit, you will not have any problems with it. The lady
that interviewed us told us when were joking about the whole process that
they can spot the frauds right away when they open the files without seeing
the couple yet. The only thing she asked was how did we meet. We said that
we had been talking about questions like "what's your spouses favorite
color" and stuff and that we don't even have 1 specific color. She said that
if they had suspected anything they would have split us up right away into
different rooms and then asked questions like that.

They only have 30 min per interview reserved. You need to have a copy of the
latest tax return with you if there has only been one since you filed and
submitted the copies. We didn't have any other forms filled with us because
our lawyer filed everything at one time. She wanted to see our ID's, my
passport, all EAD's given to me, a utility bill that has both of our names,
mortgage or lease statement, financial statements (I just took 2 different
bank accounts that were joint), photos (I had our 1st anniversary picture,
our wedding picture, our group wedding picture (with family in it and she
asked who they were), hubby had a picture of us in his wallet so he showed
that. That's about it.

We went into the whole deal with a happy attitude. Not overly cuddly and
affectionate, but our normal selves. We sat there hand in hand like we
normally do and were joking amongst ourselves. It was a really easy deal and
I would not worry if your marriage is legit. If it isn't, then God help
you... this lady would pick it up right away. She did mention the different
types and how they can pick them out. That was too funny. She said that
every day she leaves for work she prays that they only get 1 fraud today :)

Relax and enjoy. It's all worth it in the end.

PS be on time. If your appt is 11am, then get there by 10:30am and they will
let you in, but if you try to get there more than an hour early, they will
tell you to wait outside.
