All she is doing by marrying you is making phone companies rich, becuase
that's all you two will be doing for the next 5 years, talk on the phone.

Re: Green Card Holder marrying fiance at outside US
Well, a nice lot of "advice" you got! OK, you can file an I-130 for your
wife. However, there are a limited number of greencards given to spouses of
permanent residents per year so she needs to wait for one to be available -
that is the 5-6 years you heard about. The answer to 1 and 2 is the same -
it's that time.
However, once you become a US citizen she would become eligible for a visa
"immediately" (immediately means without waiting for a number but obviously
there is processing time still). So, the best thing you can do is file for
US citizenship the moment you are eligible (which is probably 90 days prior
to the fifth anniversary of you becoming a permanent resident). You can then
get the I-130 acted upon, your wife can get her immigrant visa and she can
come to the US.
I'm sorry about this - it totally sucks!
Andy.

There is also the V Visa which will allow you to petition for your wife's earlier arrival once your I-130 has reached the three year mark.

*Remember* that this is only available for those spouses of PRs who's I-130
was pending for three years on December 15th, 2000 when the LIFE act was
signed into law.

Thank you Andy. I was not aware that there was that stipulation to the V visa. It was my understanding that it was for all PR's waiting three years or more regardless of their filing date.

Since you're running down Hindus & India, take a moment and name a Muslim
country that comes anywhere near being a democratic government with an
economy above the third world, or lower.
I'm not talking about individuals, because all the folks I've known that
practice Islam are good citizens.

What the hell are you talking about? If he is a green card holder, he
isn't here legally.

Didn't the filing deadline pass for that a while back?
