Re: Got My Noa1 From Missouri!!!!!!
Tweeky,
Good question! You posted the information as you saw it on the BCIS Online Status page, right?
I mailed my I-129f on 9/30. My NOA #1 says Received Date 10/1, Notice Date 10/2. My online status report says "received on October 6".
This leads me to wonder if the NOA is issued from Chicago but the online status notice is put up from Missouri? Not that it makes a great deal of difference in the overall scheme of things, but with all the time we have on our hands we have to wonder about something, right?

Your I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was received on October 7, 2003. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 60 and 90 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.
The noa was issued on October 7 then right?, so should I said on my timeline that the noa was issued October 7th??
I am sorry I said I got it on the 15.. It is October 15th here.. since It is 2 am lol.. sorry about that!!
Thanks!!!!

Lol...Yes, it made me wonder too... My paper NOA1 is dated Aug 28th, and the online status says Sept 2nd. I've heard another person on this NG say that his/her two dates didn't match either...Go figure. Maybe the lawyers would know what's up with that...*g*

If you look on your receipt notice, you will actually see “two date boxes… one called the received date, and one called the notice date (and you should use the “notice date, not the received date when using the Service Center report to see if its likely off the shelf yet and when calculating an overdue date).
The received date is the date your materials made it to the sorting section at the Service Center, while the notice date is the date your data was entered into the computer by a contract worker at data entry.
Usually those two dates are the same, but sometimes we will see a gap of a few days (or perhaps longer) between the two dates (I noticed a gap between these two dates on a recent VSC receipt notice). If you do see a gap between the two dates; that means it took that long to make it from the sorting section to the data entry section at the Service Center.
It is a data entry that the computer sends out the signal to the printer, which then automatically prints out the notice and stuffs it into an envelope for mailing (this is all done by machine, not by human hand… and unfortunately sometimes the folding and stuffing machine malfunctions and more than 1 notice gets stuffed into one envelope… meaning some unfortunate individual is not going to receive his or her receipt and/or approval notice).
When calling the automated phone system or when checking the on-line system, I’ve noticed it sometimes reflects the received date, but more often it reflects the notice date (and I’ve even noticed it reflecting some date between these two dates).
The system is not perfect. The thing to remember is not to rely on the projected processing times listed on the receipt notice (or mentioned on the telephone or on-line system) and instead use the reports and your “notice date to determine if the case has likely been given to an officer, and to calculate the overdue date.
