Got my H1B, what now?
Hey,
I'm in the US on OPT. Got my H1B application accepted and I was sent a
receipt on greenish paper (Form I797A). Is there anything I need to do
now? Is there an ID card I am supposed to receive or do I merely hang
on to this scrap of paper?
Help!

Since you now have the greenish piece of paper, you can now pack up all your
belongings, leave the USA and go home. You are now welcome here, K?

Re: Got my H1B, what now?
Sorry, what I was trying to say is "you are NOT welcome here". I stand
corrected.

If you want to travel outside the US, you will need to get the visa stamped in your passport - either in your home country or in Canada or Mexico. (You will need an appointment and it could take a few days to get your passport back. I hear citizens of some countries may have difficulty at consulates in Canada and Mexico though).
HTH - and don't listen to the troll...

If you are already in the US, you dont't really have do anything as you
have already get the legal status, however, if you are going back to
Canada for a visit, then you will need to go to the US embassy to get a
H-1B visa stamp in order to re-enter the US.
Yes, that's the only paper you get, keep the i-94 in your passport.

As a canadian you don't need a H-1B visa stamp. All you need to
re-enter the US is the bottom part of the H1B letter stapled to your
passport.
