Default Getting F1 US visa

Hi,
I would apreciate if somebody with experience
could answer the question.

Suppose a person, having US Tourist visa (B1) in the
passport, applies for Student visa (F1).
The question is: will they cancel the B1 visa
in case of refusal of F1.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see why B1 would be cancelled if you have not overstayed and
cann't transfer to F-1.

Keep in mind that you can extend B-1 inside US. Some school will let
you start school while doing F-1 for you. If you are inside talk with
the school.
