Get J1 visa in another European country
Hi,
I'm a Spanish researcher working in the Netherlands. I will soon move
to the US with a J1 visa (which I still have to apply for) and I was
wondering if I can apply for it at the American consulate in Amsterdam
(and thus save the trip to the American embassy in Madrid). A related
question: my wife will join me as a J2, but our marriage certificate is
in Spanish, not in Dutch or English. Will I need a translation if I can
do the paperwork+interview in Amsterdam?
Thank you,
Pablo

If the DS-2019 is sent to you in Amsterdam I would assume you can take
it to the consulate there to get the J-1 visa. I would just call and ask
them, if you can.
All documents should be translated into English.

Dunno about the Marriager Cert, would not surprise me if they had somebody on staff who was fluent in Spanish.
