GC reciept time
Hi does anyone know roughly how long its taking for the I-551 card to arrive after youve entered the US?
We have been here for 90 days now (landed Newark as POE begining last December) and we've not had either a welcome letter or the I-551's

Re: GC reciept time
I got my GC within 3 weeks of the interview, but then mine was an I485
situation.
But, what welcome letter? I didnt get any welcome letter.
Any others who got their GC through the I485 route get a welcome letter?

Exactly the same situation as you (although POE was Dallas), again in early December.
Phone the 1-800 number on the USCIS website and be prepared to wait.... don't even bother phoning on a Monday though!
I eventually got put through to an immigration officer who...claimed the computer had zero information on me and suggested the paper may have been "lost".
What's worse is the the POE officers generally have no idea what the MRIV thingy is in the passport - one guy in Dallas asked me last time I returned from a Europe trip - "is this all you have?"
Hmmm...

It depends. May take 3 months. May take 6 months. May take 4 years.

If someone adjusts status, rather than arriving on an immigrant visa, surely
they are already in the US, so why would they be welcomed?

Re: GC reciept time
Well thanks for the responses. But as if by magic today our GC's arrived!
Must be a case of "speak of the devil and he shall appear"!
PS AndySmithers, I took our passports to the DMV for the driving test and the lady there just stared at the MRIV's dumbfounded...eventually they got a supervisor who'd seen the memo about the course about the memo about what the MRIVs were and nodded and said "Uh....yeah.....thats cool. I think I know that that is. We can accept that"

Because the welcome letter is for LPR to US. I would expect to receive a
welcome letter when I turn an LPR.

Well, I didn't get one when I adjusted status and I don't know anyone else
who did.
Welcome to the US!
