Default Florida Drivers licence renewal H1B

Hi,

I live in Florida and my H1B expires on 1st October 2003. My employer has already filed for an extension and I have all the original documents to support that.

My drivers licence also expires on 1st October 2003. The local DMV needs an additional letter from INS stating that they have the petetion. I am confused as to why the local DMV needs that.

Has anyone been in a simillar situation in Florida or elseehere?
Does anyone know what is the exact procedure of renewing the licence while waiting for the h1b extension approval?
will sincerely appreciate some feedback.
thanks
Prashant

The reason for that requirement is that some states now will issue your
license only for as long as you are in valid immigration status - as you
noticed. Now if you apply for your renewal without the extension at least
filed, they would not be able to extend it.

Sorry, I am not familiar with the detailed procedures.
