Hi,

Can anyone provide an explanation of what the financial requirements are for getting
the I-129F approved? I currently have a well paying job and shouldn't have any
trouble...except I may be in between jobs soon. We filed our I-129F petition for K-1
Visa a couple of weeks ago and are concerned of the implications if I am suddenly out
of work. At what point in the process do they actually evaluate the citizen's
financial capacity to support the alien fiance? How many months in does that usually
occur? Are there certain criteria they follow to make the decision?

Thanks everyone!

They will want to see that you meet the requirements at the time of the K-1
interview. (This is when you turn in the Affidavit of Support and documentation) If
you go with income alone, which needs to be 125% the current poverty level for the
number in your household, the current income will be what counts. I had been a
student for a few years, only working part time, when at the time of the interview I
had been teaching only several months.....but they accepted that with my letter from
employer and a couple of pay stubs.
