Filipina wanting to visit USA - visa requirements?
Hi
We are hoping to visit the USA next year for vacation.
I am western so no visa ussues.
However, my girlfriend is Filipina. What are the visa issues i.e. can she get one, is it easy, will i have to sponsor her, etc... What paperwork / documents are required. Can she get a 'multi-entry' visa? How long will it all take?
Not that its relevant (?) but we live in Dubai. Does that matter?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

She has to prove the embassy that she will not stay in the U.S. and if she's working in a foreign country I would assume she can't provide proof of resources, i.e. money in the bank or property owned to satisfy that requirement.

Re: Filipina wanting to visit USA - visa requirements?
A friend of mine in the US ( US citizen) has a penfriend in Thailand. They tried to get her a tourist visa so she could visit over here, with no success. The lady in question is middle-aged, has a family in Thailand, a good job over there, and owns property. She has no intention whatsoever of "doing a runner" and overstaying her visa, she genuinely just wanted to visit someone she's been writing to. My friend here can't go to Thailand due to disabilities.
The authorities are really clamping down, by the looks of it. Good luck with your application, but don't get too optimistic.

When applying for a visitors visa to the US, it will be her high burden to show she is only visiting and that she does not have plans to stay on a more permanent basis. This burden is even higher for a young Filipino.
She will need to show things such as:
Round Trip Ticket;
Proof of residence/home abroad;
Proof of employment abroad;
Proof of family/life that she would not abandon;
Detailed itinerary of her plans for US;
Any proof that shows she will return to her home and not overstay.

I don't think they are even giving out visit visas anymore. Not even for
spouses. They are very happily taking your money though. The embassies
have become like a lottery or revenue collectors like the IRS. My wife is
Filipino and just applied for a visit visa while waiting on the I-130
processing and had her interview this morning. She had everything that
Andrew Wilson listed below, and even had a sworn affidavit signed by myself
under penalty of perjury swearing that she would be leaving the country on
September 7 to return to the UAE (where she has lived and worked for the
past 15 years)....... DENIED....
