If you are going to apply for an F-1 for yourself and F-2 for your wife and kids, are
the kids(under 14) suppose to come to the consulate for visa interview? Thanks!

Kids aren't required for your visa interview. You will have to fill in several forms,
though seemingly innocuous yet terribly tricky. I do think consulting a good attorney
is essential.

There are several attorney websites available on the Internet who offer superb
consultation service and excellent advice for a trivial $25. I consulted
Visapro.com... this site has an ex INS director offering consultations and are really
prompt. Do also check out the section they have on their website on F1 and F2 visas.
their address is http://www.visapro.com
