Question Extending the re-entry visa? Help needed

Hi there,

I'm hoping that someone can help me. I am a Green Card holder and from the EU. Before leaving the US to go over to the UK to work, I applied for a re-entry visa (travel visa), which was approved and is valid for 2 years.
As I will not move back to the US before the re-entry visa expires (in Oct this year), I would like to extend my re-entry visa so I don't lose my Green Card.

To my question: does anyone know how to extend the re-entry/'travel visa'? What form do I need to fill out? Where do I need to turn in the form (UK or US)? And/or does anyone know of a good lawyer in the UK that specialized in US immigration?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

That is not possible.

The reentry permit can *not* be extended.

Hi:

You can only apply for an I-130 while IN the United States. I have done that for people in your position. BTW, I would be careful that youhave not abandoned your PR.

Sorry to nitpick, but I think that should be I-131...

Hi there and thank you for all your answers!

As it took a lot of time and money to get the Green Card, I would hate to lose it and have to start over when I move back there!
Is there anything else I can do to keep my status 'current'??

Thanks!

Hi:

Do NOT claim non-resident status on your Federal or [if applicable] State Tax returns. File those bloody returns. Keep various "contacts" with the United States. BTW, WHO do you work for abroad -- is it a US owned company perchance.

These cases are fact specific and there is no sure answer.
