Expeditious Naturalization
My company is closing development in USA and moves offshore
for software development, If I stay here I loose my job and will
have to look for another one soon.
If I go my wife who is close to filing N-400 will loose her residency
and will not be elegible for Naturalization in 08/2004.
Can anyone tell me where she should apply for "Expeditious Naturalization" , also tell me if it works . I called one attorney and he told me that INS in some cities don't like to process such applications and it may not even go thru, if it's the case I better be hungry then lost.

Where are you going? I thought I saw you mention in another thread that you
are a US citizen, so you don't have to leave. ???

I thought Expeditious Naturalization was only granted to certain people -
like those who served in the US military in Iraq recently and things like
that. I don't think you can just ask to be a special case because you want
to.

I am US citizen but my wife is not, she has been PR in USA for 2 years. But if we have to leave because of my job, she could loose
her status.

Expeditious Naturalization is not what you think, I ment immediate
Naturalization, sec. 319 for spouses of US citizens working abroad
and sec. 322 for children born abroad to US citizens.

if you go only temporarily with your company (say, until you find a
new job in the usa) and in the meantime you keep a residence in the
usa, and she doesn't stay out of the country for more than a few
months at a time (180 days is a hard limit), she doesn't necessarily
lose her status or the required residency for naturalization.

Thank you for your replies, but it does not solve my problem.
She's been in USA for 5 years including 2 years as PR . We also have a child and cannot travel back and forth to keep her residence in USA. I guess we have to stay and collect unemployment.

That is the correct decision, cutting grass is another option to consider

This group shares information. It's not a support group. You asked whether
your wife was eligible for Expeditious Naturalization. You received the
answer that she is not. What more do you want from us?

Or you could get another job. Or your wife could get a job. Or you could
leave the country and lose your wife's permanent residence. If you don't
want to stay here anyway, why does it matter?

What "job" are you talking about? Is it a government job? If it is, then she
won't have a problem about losing her residency status. If its not, then you
have to make a choice on what's more important for you. You can't have it
all.
