Re: Entering US on visa waiver after IR-1 granted
Hi,
Quick update on this topic for the benefit of others. I was invited to the states for an interview before I used my IR-1 and before my family is ready to move, so decided to risk trying to enter the country under visa vaiver. I brought with me a bucket load of evidence that we are moving as a family to ATL in 6 weeks time and that I was coming in ( to San Francisco) for only a few days. In the end I didn't need any of it - the CBP officer called his supervisor to confirm that it was allowed, and after that it was the usual questions and process for any visa waiver entry. Very relieved - I thought there was a 30% chance I'd be back on the return flight! Interviews went really well too :-)

Good to know what happened and it worked out OK.

That's usually the case. Bring "evidence" for your own peace of mind, but the CBP officers aren't interested. You'll be granted entry or sent back based on how they 'size you up' when they see you and speak with you.
I'm glad to learn that it worked out for you.
