Re: Emigrating to U.S
As a starter go to http://www.visaamerica.com/ easy check list to see if you fit any particular visa application...if you are UK born and your parents are as well, forget lottery, no matter what some of the scam sites tell you...Your choice of occupations over here do not bode well for you.

A) Enter the greencard lottery if your country is eligible. Here's how:
http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/howdoi/divlott.htm
B) Find a US employer who is willing to sponsor you for an H1-B visa and/or
a greencard. The employer needs to persuade the government that they
couldn't hire someone locally. You mentioned the possibility of working as
a bus driver or an AV technician. You will not be able to find a sponsor
for these jobs because there are plenty of unemployed bus drivers and AV
technicians in the US. Anyway, to find an employer, you can look at job ads
(online & in newspapers), use a recruiter, or network through people you
know.
Other routes of immigration are available if you have highly specialized
talent/skill/education, a lot of money, or an American
fiance/spouse/relatives.
