So, I'm looking at the possibility/probability that I'll have to go back to England. Assuming my I-601 is denied (probable), I'm preparing to move back to the UK anytime in between now and the next 9 months.

I looked at Hull (hometown), but wages are utter crap - albeit I can get a 3 bedroom house with a garden for 400 quid a month!

I know I won't be able to make what I'm earning here - say......25K (English money) at a rough guess, and I know I don't want to spend more than 2 months in Hell.

Anybody got any info on what an admin (16 years experience including management) can make, and where might be a half decent place to live for a reasonable price?

Come to Norwich! There are always admin jobs at Norwich Union, and they have offices all over the country/world should you wish to transfer. Avoid a job at the uni - wages are dire.

What does your husband do? There are plenty if Admin jobs in the Teesside area, Marske, Redcar, Guisborough all have lovely areas to live and they are next to the coast. Loads of jobs in Middlesbrough and I have seen a few with salaries of £20k. Plus loads of pubs and clubs to frequent!

Hubby won't be coming with me - we'll fight it through the London consulate if my waiver is denied. He has a rather successful business that he won't give up until we're absolutely sure I can't come back (hopefully it won't come to that, though!)
