EAD application on L-2 - permanent address required?

Hi all,

Well it seems like we're finally getting our L-1/L-2 visas moving, and we're shortly going to submit paperwork.

One question I have is regarding my EAD application - we are planning on coming over in December, activating our visas (wife on L-1A, me on L-2), and I will submit EAD paperwork. However we will not have a permanent address for the first few months - we will be living out of a hotel and will occasionally be back in the UK (and I may possibly have some UK work while I wait for an EAD to come through).

Do we require a permanent address in order for me to submit EAD paperwork? Or will our hotel / wife's office / friend's address suffice for this? I'm aware that biometrics may or may not be required.

I researched the forums a little to see what I could find and the nearest I could get was this from 2008:

..which nearly covers this but not quite. Can anyone help?

Office or friend's address would work.

Fantastic - your quick, useful advice in 2017 is as good as in 2008 it seems! Thanks very much.

If you return to the UK you can work. If you return to the US you cannot continue to work for the UK company while physically in the US whilst waiting for your EAD.

Thanks for this - this won't be an issue in my case as my current job requires me in the UK (it's not portable). But I'm aware of the restrictions and know I couldn't pick up any UK freelance work while I waited for the EAD in the US.
