Default E3 Visa Info

Hi, does anyone know if you can find out how many E3 visas out of the 10,500 have been issued at anyone time? Also when does the application process start and close or does it run all year until the 10,500 visas have been issued? Lastly can the E3 visa be applied for through another consulate if your not currently living in Australia but are a citizen?

Thanks Kevin

Sorry Kevin, most of this info is readily available on the net and you could have found it very easily.

Anyway this is what I know
1. They do not let us know how many of the visa's are issued. When the 10,500 have been issued they update the website. But I will not wait to know that - call them if you want to know.
2. Visa runs from OCtober to September.
3. Yes it can be applied at any consulate althogh they want you to apply where you reside.......

Thanks. I have been checking the websites and it is vague what they class as 'speciality occupation'. I have a degree in Property Investment & Development. It is an acredited course by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and therefore is recognised in America. I specialise in Property & Asset Management of Large Commercial Properties and therefore is quite specialised and there is a shortage of these workers in the UK. Do you think this would qualify me for the US E-3 visa? Thanks Kevin

Lastly, can you apply for the E3 visa through a consulate in another country apart from Australia providing you are an Australian Citizen, ie: can i apply for the E3 visa in the UK?
Thanks! Kevin

The visa does not run from October to September, what do you mean? It is issued whenever it's issued, and it's valid for 2 years thereafter. There is no "season" for E3's.

Re the quota - I wouldn't worry, it's never been reached before.

His question was when does the proces start and end i.e. financial year for the quota which is what I said, Oct to September.

Hi all!

I find the "specialty occupation" to be quite vague as well. What are the chances of someone like me whose occupational background is in the Fashion Retail Sector (Fashion Buyer being my main and lengthiest occupation) for over 9 years, I'm without a bachelor's or associate's degree. I was a part time student at 25 doing Product Development (Merchandising and Marketing) at RMIT...clearly related to my occupation, however due high work demands and increased work travel overseas and interstate, i've had to defer my studies. As far as I'm aware that to be eligible for the E3 visa it requires a bachelor's degree or at least 12 years industry experience or combination of the 2. So does that mean with my 9 years experience and my 1 year deferred work related studies, and an Australian citizen i have passed the requirements to be eligible for the E3? Will that work in my favour?

Also, does anybody have any advice or leads in finding a job agency? How best to approach the visa and job app process? I've applied to numerous jobs in my related field, and the best response I received was a rejection letter (and i say "best" coz most of the time there would be no response at all...they were impressed with my credentials but have decided to go with someone more eligible...blah blah, usual rejection line) I have even done some networking with friends in America who've given contacts that i have emailed. Unfortunately contacts don't mean much at this stage unless you can secure a job sponsorship...don't mean to sound negative but these contacts haven't even replied even just to say "got your email, don't have anything at this stage, but will certainly keep you posted, etc"

Any insight, infos, leads, advice is much appreciated!

Generally a person obtaining an E3 visa must be applying for a job in a speciality occupation that requires a bachlors degree (time in profession can count towards the requirement). I suspect the one year training would not count unless it was at an accredited instution.

It is very unlikely that a company will respond to requests for employment from overseas. Most potiential employees would have to come to the US on a WVP when seeking jobs. That is what many do when eligible for E3 visa but most are skilled IT personnel and companies such as those have worked with the E3 visa before. Many other companies do not want to get involved with the cost, headaches, and time associated with visas.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the response, Michael.

Going to the US under the visa waiver programme is next on the list for me, and apply for jobs while there. I guess I should just be assessed whether or not i fit the criteria. In that case, if i won't be eligible to apply for E3, is there any other way i could legally live and work in america, other than doing camp usa? That would only be temporary though. My boyfriend lives in America and I toyed briefly with the idea of the Fiancee visa, and it's not for us...don't want to involve marriage into the mix and even if we do he's still a full time student who needs to show proof that he can take care of me financially...not at this stage. I'm a little stumped for options! Know of any good legal advice or anyone in the fashion industry?

Has anybody had any experience applying for the E3 visa who do not fit the "mold" (IT, clinicals with a degree) and actually been successful with it? What steps/agencies/legal advice did you go through?

Anyone?

If you can't get an E3 visa, then about the only logical alternative is the fiance visa. Your partner doesn't need to show that he can support you if you can get a co-sponsor (possibly his parents who would only be responsible if you applied for government benefits prior to becoming a USC). You could possibly take that approach but support yourself with a job.

I believe that you may also possibly be able to qualify on asset based support if you have enough assets and in this way you will not need a co-sponsor.

Why not contact the consulate and ask for your eligibility or they dont entertain such calls ?

The last thing you want is to go to US and get a job only to be told you are not eligible for the visa.....

Thanks for that insight, E3only....

Checking out blogs and threads and chat sights is as far as I got to getting advice, honestly. I will definitely be using more of this resource before seeking legal advice...thank you! (In other words, I haven't really thought of approaching the US consulate...hehe thanks for reminding me there are means to get more infos!)

This forum is fantastic. Somethings though are very subjective i.e. speciality occupation.
Legal/consulate advice will be good !
