DV reentry - immediate advise needed
My wife won the DV lottery and I entered the U.S. three weeks ago. My
passport has DV - permanent resident stamped. I have not received the
real green card yet. I assume it will take a while. However, I must
leave the U.S. and go back to my country with the intent to reenter
within six months.
My questions:
Do I need I-131 reentry permit/advance parole approved before I leave?
I cannot wait for the I-131 to be approved anyway. If I need the
approval in advance and leave before the approval is there any
recourse?
Thanks in advance.

I think it is a good idea for you to apply for a reentry permit (not advance
parole, of course). It is not necessary if you reenter the U.S. within 6
months, but I think it may help, especially if your plans change and you are
absent for a longer period of time.

You don't need the approval in advance. You must file the I-131 while
physically in the U.S., but you can then leave, and arrange for the reentry
permit to be sent to you abroad.

Does the stamp say "evidence of permanet residence". Mine did and that was as good as having the card for a year until it expired.
The other rules about not being absent for 6 months or more to keep your citizenship elegibility or 12 months to keep the permanant residence still apply.
