Am curious about the rate of approvals for DV filed by foreigners from within the USA. I filed from within for 8 straight years...no luck. Were there any winners? In this case, how were they notified? Via email or snail mail? Wondering.

Hi Jake

It doesn't matter whether you file from within or outside the USA, all entries are treated equally. Notifications always come by regular mail, not email.

No problem. A friend of mine in Iran applied for 7 years before this, and finally this year won. His number just became current for August, but he only has until the end of September to get the visa granted. He said they don't do fingerprinting until the date of the interview, so if his interview ends up being too late, and his security checks aren't done by end of September, he won't get the visa even after winning a place in the lottery.
