DV 2005 Pictures
For those people that submitted their DV forms and they seemed to be OK, what format of pics did you use 320 by 240 pixels or the other way around. This is generating a lot of confusion (and fear) to all people applying!
Thanks

so, you are saying that you used the scan-in option? I guess that is the safest way considering that there is such a confusion with the specifications.

Anyway, I can assure you that all of my friends here in NYC including me used the other option. best regards.
By the way I just noticed that you are participating in this forum on a regular basis. So I have a question. I actually might need your help regarding my H1B status...

Deyan,
I think that stands for "Dejan" yes? Yes, I am serbian from Sr. Mitrovica, currently in the PA. You in NYC? Sure, I am not an expert, but I have grown familiar with US immigration law being forced to by our unfortunate circumstances. So feel free to ask.
Also, I agree that indeed it should be in our advantage that the DV is on line. Though, I did not want to make any careless mistakes myself that would put me in the category of the "unfortunates," if you know what I mean.
Pozdrav i sve najbolje.

Ok look now, I came on J1 in '99, than I transferred ti F1 and attended school until this summer trying to find an employer and get an H1b. this past August I was employed and my petition for H1b was approved. Now I plan to get my visa stamped in in Canada, but I am afraid that i mey be rejected and never come back. So, have you heard of any cases similar to mine , and what do you think I should do in oredr to be able to come back to the US?

Deyan,
No, unfortunately I had not heard about any similar case. From what I heard from an immigrat attorney, the only reason they would reject H1 is b/c of security reasons, and if it was obvious that you had the petition rigged (i.e. if you uncle with the same last name was your employer). How long did it take you to get H1 petition approved? What field?
best of luck!

Zdravo,
I work as a Marketing Research Manager @ babynow.com
I graduated economics in Europe. I earned my MBA there. When I came to the US however, I obtained an F1 status. I attended a local community college here in NY in order to maintain status. meanwhile my diploma was evaluated and I started looking for an employer in order to get an H1B and remain in the states. Luckily i found babynow.com, but now I'm afraid to travel to Canada. As a matter of fact I only hear scary things about going there...
Do you know if I can reenter somehow, in case visa is not issued?

That is actually the problem...according to the new immigration guidelines as of January 2002, anyone who is refused a visa in Canada must go to the home coutry to obtain a visa there. This especially applies to F1 students who come back on the visa waiver. Yes, Canadian US embassy has clamped down on a lot of people. However, with H1b petition, I think you have a fair shot since it recognizes the dual intent.

A friend of mine just a couple of days ago got his H-1B visa in Tijuana
without a hitch. Like you, he had switched from F-1.
Another friend, though, has been warned that issuing the visa in Tijuana
would take 60+ days.
Both are Indian citizens. The difference was that the second one was born
in an Arab country.
With a US degree, the only likely reason for a problem (besides not having
all the paperwork meticulously in order) is usually that they need time to
conduct the name check (security background check). This usually, but not
exclusively, applies to males age 16 to 45 who have some ties to the Arab
world, such as my friend born there.

Everyone was telling me how difficult it is and I was really scared that I won't get the visa and won't be allowed to cross the border.
Don't worry. If you have all the documents you need, it won't be a problem. In my case, there was a very nice older lady at the US embassy, who just collected my papers and told me to come back at 4 pm to get my visa. That was is.
Good luck to you!

Re: DV 2005 Pictures
I think the best solution is to take a passport photo and scan it at 300 x
300 2 in x 2in.
Works all the time with photo check.
