Default Domicile

Hi everyone,
Busy trying to get all the documents together for DH to prove domicile. Does anyone know if he can get proof of his voter registration in AZ? He registered to vote there and did, but was not given any card or proof that he did and now we are trying to find out how we can obtain anything to prove this.

l,

If he's registered to vote in Arizona he should have a voter registration card issued by the MVD.

It will probably depend on what county he's registered in. See this for instructions for Mohave County:

I see, that is what I would have thought also, what is the betting that he did and misplaced it I am pretty sure that is what happened although he will never admit to that!

How do I contact the Secretary of State if I have additional questions?

If you have any questions about EZ Voter Registration, or any questions about voter registration in general, please contact the Secretary of State at (602) 542-8683 or toll free within Arizona at (877) THE-VOTE (M-F 8 am to 5 pm). Additional voter registration and election information can be found at the Secretary of State web site. http://www.azsos.gov/

Voter registration does not prove one's domicile. I say this because all US Citizens are eligible to vote regardless of what country in the world they live in. Unlike some first world countries that deny their citizens that right.

He is in the US Service. He does not have to prove his domicile.

Is he exiting the service with this move or being restationed in the US?

When did he last vote? If it was in the 2008 Presidential election, that'd be great. If it was before that, I'm not sure it proves anything in particular other than at some time in the past he was eligible to vote.

Rete, he is no longer in the USAF, he did not re-enlist.

Ian, He did not vote in the last election as he was in the UK and didn't bother to register for overseas vote. So maybe it wouldn't prove anything as far as domicile is concerned

How long has he been out of the US and/or military?

You might want to look up "temporarily resident abroad".

He needs an address in the US, maybe a local bank account, driver's license.. look for basic stuff if the voting record is being complex.

There are some detailed links about domicile from the first link in my signature.

He came out of the military in 2007 and has been in London since July 2008. He has a valid US driving license and has been using FIL's address. Is it ok to use FIL's address? It was his address until he left the USAF.
