For everyone else I've seen posting that email message, it means that the Adjustment of Status was approved without interview and a Green Card is being generated and sent.
Congratulations.

Re: Does this mean what I think it does?
Seems clear to me:
- they're writing to you regards your I485 application
- they are telling you that they aprvd your I485 app on May 2nd
- they are saying that after they approved your app, they ordered you a new card
- they are saying that when the card is ready, they will mail it to you
- the card that is generally mailed out when a 485 is approved is a greencard
I would infer from this that you were approved w/o an interview.

But there is that other string about the guy who received the actual green card and a year later has been invited in for an interview.
BTW, remember that excited post I made a few weeks back about a waiver approval from Lima? I received a phone call from OIC Lima saying they [I-212 & I-601] were approved. Procedure is that you get written notices of denial, but approval is by getting your visa. Based upon the computer showing two approvals, RDJ sets second interview. Everybody happy. At interview, ConOff actually opens the envelopes with the I-601 and I-212 -- the I-601 had been approved but the I-212 stamped denied.
Now, remember, the COMPUTER said approval on both. Also remember that its immeasurably harder to get approval on the I-601 ["extreme hardship" and all that] than on the I-212. Normally, if the I-601 is approved then the I-212 follows. The Consulate and I are in agreement that its mighty strange.
So, do I trust the computer notice? Not on your life.

Hi, I was a bit excited when I posted this, but I think it means my
wife is finally being issued her green card. I recieved an email from
the USCIS and went to the web site to confirm what I read. What I
posted was a direct quote with our case number deleted.
The last notice we recieved was for more evidence a few weeks ago. It
turned out they had lost our marriage certificate and we had to send
in a new copy.
The key phrases in this messages is "after approving your application"
and "Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."
That sounds like my wife's green card is on its way to me. I just
wanted to see if I was correct or suffering from delusions. :)

You have to set it up. It is an option you can get when you check the
case status online.
