hi,

when sending documentation to embassy (uk), do they accept copies of divorce decrees, birth certificates, etc...

You don't send the types of documents you identified to the embassy, you take them with you when you go for the visa interview. You should take both a copy and the original of each document, they may want to inspect the original and keep the copy.
