Default DOB Cert needed for family sponsorship?

I am a USC. I would like to sponsor my brother's family. I downloaded
all the necessary forms. It seems I will need to present some
supporting documents like date-of-birth certificate. Do I need to
submit the DOB at the time of filing? Can I do it at a later time? I
ask because my brother has no DOB certificate other than a mention of
his DOB in a grade card. When I filed for I-485 I attached a statement
from my parents along with the grade card. Apparently that was
adequate. My parents will be coming here and they have some
differences with my brother. I would like to convince them when they
are here and get the DOB cert ready. However, I don't want to delay
filing papers for my brother's family. So I would appreciate your kind
feedback.

Thanks

Do you *need* to? No, but it'll likely delay the visa... and it's already going to take a long time.

However, I don't want to delay filing papers for my brother's family.
Since it'll take about 8 years for your brother and his family to get a visa, I wouldn't worry about a short delay in filing.

Yes, it is needed for its substitute evidence which is outlined on the information sheet for the I-130/I-485. Your brother's visa won't be current for at least 8 years or more.
