Default Do cousins count as close family??

Hi,
Myself and my family (wife,4 kids) are considering a move to the states,my cousin and his family live there (florida) and i wanted to know if that would make any difference to the application (easier, faster etc??).Also do the individual states have varying rules regarding immigration (like canada for example) or is it the same all over the US? Thanks

No . Cousins are not close family
Immigration has the same rules in every State

Canada is a different country

In Florida perhaps! Up in this neck of the woods, cousins are as close as, say... husband and wife! A few miles down the road, cousins are as close as brother and sister... but folks in this area don't much talk about that!

The only Province in Canada that has it's own immigration policy is Quebec...and don't get me started about them

In US,only immediate family members have elgibility to emigrate to US.
The definititon of Immediate family is parents of a person (biological
as well as adopted) , children of a person (biological as well as
adopted), and siblings (biological as well as adopted).

I remembered that my oldest brother was surprised that his siblings
here in US cannot consider his children family and hence cannot sponsor
them (directly, not through him) for emigration to US. Not that he was
interested in his children emigrating here, he was a bit offended that
his chidlren were not considered family of us

I had to explain that it is only for immigration purpose that the rules
were made like that.
