Detroit Natz. Oath Ceremony.. quick.. TOO QUICK
It truly AMAZES me that, the one time we were hoping that the Detroit BCIS would drag its feet just A TAD, they turn into the model of efficiency.
My wife had her Naturalization Interview on Dec 1, 2003, and was "recommended for approval" for Citizenship and the Oath Ceremony. Only TWO DAYS later (Dec 3) they mailed her a "Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony" (Form N-445), which we received in the mail yesterday (Dec 4).
The Notice scheduled her for an Oath Ceremony this December 19th!!!! Great News, except that is two days AFTER we are leaving the country for the holidays.
So, after FIVE YEARS (K-1 Visa process time) of dealing with their delays, WE now have to come and tell them, "Well, Thanks for inviting us to your party, but we are going to have to pass this time, and wait for the next one".
Strikes me as VERY ironic.
Bruce
p.s. Hopefully, the next one will be within a few months, and not NEXT December 19th.

Re: Detroit Natz. Oath Ceremony.. quick.. TOO QUICK
Bruce - Congrats on your wife passing the Nat interview and on getting a
quick response from Detroit on the date for the ceremony. Bummer that
you can't make it, but I bet they have them almost monthly, considering
the number of immigrants they process in Detroit. I'm sure it won't be
a problem to reschedule. My husband and I will hopefully be going
through the same process in about three years - his AOS was 3/26/03 so
he's not eligible for awhile! Congrats again. Kristin
p.s. There's actually a phone number on the Detroit office site for
Naturalization questions, you might try it to reschedule: (313)568-6030
