Designated civil surgeon recommendation in Orange County, CA
Hi All,
I am planning to get my medical done within the coming weeks.
So now I am looking for a BCIS designated civil surgeon in my area: Orange
County, CA.
Looking for cheap and not too picky.
I just don't want shots for diseases I already had, that kind of
bureaucratic nonsense.
Had my shots (and records of it), or I had the disease (mumps, chickenpox
etc.), but no records.
(I have a picture though of me with a red head swollen to twice the normal
size (mumps...) )
Can anyone recommend me one with whom they had good experiences?
Good luck to you all.
Thanks,
Etienne

Re: Designated civil surgeon recommendation in Orange County, CA
No recommendation (the one I used was in Vista, CA, probably too far away
for you), but as long as you had the shots and evidence of it, there
really shouldn't be any justification for making you take the vaccinations
again (except for things like Tetanus that need to be renewed from time to
time). The doctor I used even accepted the foreign-language vaccination
records, since the latin names of the diseases were similar enough.
As for whether having had the disease is acceptable, or whether the
vaccination is waived for other reasons (usually religious or medical,
such as allergies) is ultimately a decision of that doctor. I doubt it,
though.
By the way, there is no requirement that you get the vaccination from that
doctor. You can get them from your family doctor before you go, just bring
evidence of the vaccination. For that matter, the doctor I used was just a
family doctor (not MY family doctor) who also happened to be INS
authorized.
