Current status and receipt no.
Hi all,
I'm getting ready to renew my EAD. On question 15, do I put pending AOS or processing AOS? And is it better to submit it in person or we have to mail it in?
Our AOS interview was on Feb. 7, '03. The lady (our interviewer) told us that they do not stamp on passports any longer and that we'd have to wait for the card to arrive by mail. So far, we have not heard anything. I tried to check the status online but the receipt number I have has 15 characters (MIA2002xxxxxxxx) and it says right next to it, Receipt Number. It's on the receipt that we received when we first submitted the applications. We looked everywhere but there were no other receipt numbers or any other numbers that has 13 characters and we did not receive anything from the INS so far, all our interview/appointment dates were given to us on the same day we applied for the AOS, EAD, I-130, etc. Any idea on what the deal is? Also, our interviewer provided us the "Section 216 Notice", indicating the status will be granted upon approval of application for PR and that it'll be conditional for 2 yrs etc...to renew within 90 days.... There's no receipt number on there neither.
We just don't know what to do except to wait but it's really getting frustrating when we can't even check on the status. Please help or provide any suggestions/comments if you can. Thank you.

You can only check the status of a petition online if it was filed at a Service Center. If it was filed locally at a BCIS office, you cannot check the status. I'm not sure how you could go about finding out what is going on. Maybe sacrficie a few hours and line up at your local office?

Out of curiosity, which office are you using?
Regarding in-person/by-mail filing for your EAD, it depends on what your local office does. Some do only walk-ins, some do only by-mail applications.

Thanks for the info. Guess we'll have to make a trip down to Miami again.
