I'm with Dorothy, and disagree with this.

Maybe it's different in the U.S., but it's hugely popular as a career choice in the UK. In our small local town, I know of at least 20 cake decorators.

Some of them are charging £800 for a wedding cake, doing 2 a week, as well as other celebration cakes and corporate orders, and therefore making a very good living doing something they love. Others are doing it part-time, either mums that don't want to work more hours, or those that have a 'day job' too.

And it certainly keeps me more than busy and gives me a reasonable income - I own a business that runs cake decorating classes.

But you still wouldn't be able to get a visa for it to work in the US.

You could get an E-2. ...... But granted this would be no help for the OP who wants to work for an existing US business.

I never said I would. I was responding solely to Ian who was musing that 'perhaps cake decorating isn't a skill suitable for sustaining a job'. Hence why I quoted him and that part of his post specifically.

Although FWIW, many cake decorators could get a business based visa, and the 'top lot' (the 3000 or so that exhibit at award shows each year in the UK, are featured in magazines regularly, have published popular books etc, and are the best in the business), would possibly qualify for an O1.

This is what I was inferring in post #13, though I (mis)read O-1 and couldn't find the arts subcategory. Now I read it again, O-1B.
