Citizenship Question
I got my GC through DV-99. How soon can I apply for citizenship. I know
about the 5 year rule, but understand that can apply ahead of time. Is a
lawyer needed, or you can apply by yourself? All the paperwork we had to go
through the GC process, do we have to do that all over again?
Thank You

You can apply 90 days (and be careful, not 91 days!) before the fifth
anniversary of your Green Card.

Unless your case is particularly difficult, you can do it by yourself.
Personally, I feel more comfortable doing almost everything through a
lawyer. So a lawyer friend of mine recently recommended to fill out the
paperwork yourself, and simply pay for a consultation.

Some of the paperwork is the same, but most of it is quite different. It
will be primarily a formality. Just send in the forms + supporting
documents, wait for the fingerprint appointment, wait for the
interview/citizenship test, and wait for the oath date.
