Default CIA/FBI checks

Hi all,
I was reading through the posts, things are going crazier than
before....
does anyone know how long CIA/FBI checks take, are they specific to a
district office the same way INS is??

Chris Parker was talking about possibly expediting the backlogs, do
you think that will include the CIA/FBI checks.

INS did that once before; they naturalized a lot of citizens with
criminal histories just before the 1996 presential election, and then
tried to administratively denaturalize them afterwards. Lawsuit
followed, and federal court placed a permanent stay on the
administrative denaturalization rules (arguing that the authority to
naturalize someone doesn't inherently give the same person the
authority to revoke, especially if the law also specifies federal
courts have that authority; much the same as the authority to marry
someone doesn't give that same person the authority to divorce them,
since the courts have also been given that authority).

If they approved adjustment applications without completing background
checks, it would be consistent with their history and legacy of
jeopardizing national security, and this time later deporting the
aliens who were improperly granted permanent residence because of
criminal records would probably not be a problem like denaturalizing
was. It would still be contrary to the new mission of providing
homeland security, however.

I see your point Chris, i just hope that those checks doesn't take
longer than they are supposed to... i was wondering how long do they
normally take. I heard from a friend who got CIA/FBI clearence for
work reasons that it took him 3 weeks only to get that clearance... i
wish they can be that fast for AOS.
