Interesting to read that viewpoint, both of you and of your parents; as one who was virtually forced to stand on her own two feet from the age of 16 I have long believed that the majority of young people can look after themselves at your age.
However its quite common to read the opposite on forums like this one, parents who won't even emigrate if it means leaving a 25 year old, or even 30 year old "child" to fend for themselves.
