Changing jobs while on H1
Hi, I am currently planning to change my job here in the US. I have an
H1. What I also want is to take a break in between the switch. So, is
it possible and legal for me to take an unofficial holiday after
quitting my first job and prior to joining my second. If yes, what is
the maximum time for which I can take this break?
Regards

While your transfer petition is pending, you are in kind of a limbo
state. It used to be that you were allowed to quit your old job when the
transfer was filed, but couldn't start until it was approved. Today, of
course, you are allowed to start working when the transfer is filed. I
don't think you are *required* to do it, though; the old rules are
probably still in effect.
Of course if it is just two or three weeks, I simply wouldn't worry
about it. That would fall into the category of "Americans would be
allowed to do the same thing".
