Change of Address During I-751 Process
Hi All,
We have recently bought a house and are moving The only part that
scares us (other than our huge mortgage) is the fact that the BCIS
will not be able to keep track of my husband, and will screw up our
paperwork process. We filed the I-751 in December and my husband's 2
year green card expired in 2/2003. We do have the receipt stating
that he has a 1 year extension for work and travel while the I-751 is
pending.
Now, we need to file the change of address form. The form indicates
that it should be sent to a London, KY address. Don't we need to
notify the Service Center or local office? We're in CA by the way.
Any experiences or advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Change of Address During I-751 Process
Hi Laura,
I was in the same situation. What I did was to send a change of address and a
sponsor's change of address (i-865) to the CSC. Do not forget to send another
change of address to Kentucky (for the alien spouse).
You should also try to change your address by calling the CSC. I called
because I needed to know the status of my green card; a very nice lady answered
the phone and said that was not a problem to change my address over the phone.
I called a few days later to verify if my address was changed in the system,
and it was.

Re: Change of Address During I-751 Process
hi laura,
we sent the change of address form to the local office(boston), the
regional office(VSC) and one to washington.
besides that, make sure you forward all your mail from the old address
to the new address with the USPS. alternatively, you can make
arrangement with the USPS to hold your mail from your old address at
the post office.
we sent the I-751 a weeks ago and waiting for the return receipt.
good luck!

Hi:
In the FWIW department. I happen to be an AILA member of a small BCIS/AILA workgroup in L.A. Now that they are out from under the thumb of the enforcement types, the interim director here and her statff want to see what they can do to elimante backlogs.
We had a meeting yesterday and I learned for the first time that the BCIS computers have an "AR-11" screen whereby they can check for current addresses. And it seems to be updated constantly.
I would submit to both London and to the CSC the address change. Also, if the year is up and you haven't heard, you can go into your local BCIS DISTRICT office to get the passport stamped on a walk-in basis.
It may be a pain in the rear, but no biggie.
