Hello,

We moved about a mile away from our last residence so we filed a change of address
form -- printed out via the INS website. This has been 3 - 4 weeks since I have done
this. Will we hear anything confirming our change of address, and if not, how can I
find out if it has been changed? Someone we know still lives at our previous
residence, so it wouldn't hurt if our INS mail continued going there, but how would
it affect our interview for our I-485 application, if they say it hasn't been
changed? I've heard plenty of stories about how people send in their change of
address forms and it never happens. Also we are on day #301 of a 450 - 480 day
timeline for Detroit. When should we expect an interview letter? Last minute? Thanks.

From the INS Web site, instructions for notifying the Detroit office of a change
of address:

<quote>Change of Address: <snip info for those who have submitted Naturalization
Applications> For All Other Applications: Customers may report a change of address
for any other application submitted to this office by sending a letter to this office
(see Where Are We, Mailing Address, above - Mailing Address: INS Detroit District 333
Mt. Elliot Detroit, MI 48207).

Please include in the letter:

Your name as it appears in the application Your 8 or 9 digit A-Number Your OLD and
NEW address Clearly mark your letter "ATTENTION: CHANGE OF ADDRESS" <end of quote>
Here's the URL for where I found this:

According to the INS National Customer Service Hotline, you should receive some kind
of notice from your district office when you submit a Change of Address. When I
contacted this hotline a couple of weeks ago, they said it can take up to 90 days to
process a change of address notice (but they were speaking specifically for the
Memphis office, I believe).

If you want to find out if your change of address notice has been processed, the only
thing I can tell you is to see if the INS National Customer Service line can tell you
what the "official line" is from Detroit about how long it takes, wait that amount of
time, and once it has passed and if you've still received no word from Detroit, ask
the INS Customer Service line to submit a "Status Inquiry" re: your Change of Address
on your behalf (they may or may not do it). Aside from that, there's not a whole lot
you can do, unfortunately...except hope for the best.

I did a change of address letter as specified on the INS Kansas City website a few
months ago after we moved from Missouri to Baltimore.

To date I have heard nothing from either Kansas City or Baltimore offices.

I hope that's not bad news, because we are now in the process of going to send in our
Removal of Conditions to Vermont Service Centre rather than going through Nebraska.

Jennifer, We moved back in September and I received a NOA for me, the 'sponsor', but
my husband never received anything. Now that our processing date of Feb 6 for his
I485 has come and gone, we are getting nervous. We are going to Newark soon and stand
in line at 400am to find out what's happening.
