Default Card After I-551

Can you check the status of a Green Card after The I-551 stamp. If so
what do i need to enter to check the status? Is it the receipt Number
or the A#. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, that status cannot be checked on line (or by the automatic phone line, either, I believe). Besides which, the status will only say "approved". If you're concerned that it's taking too long to get the plastic card in the mail, I think the only way is to make an Infopass appointment, to inquire in person. How long have you been waiting?

Best Wishes,
Rene

Thanks Rene. My PP was stamped back in October is too early to be
worried about this? I dont need to travel anywhere was just curious to
find out how long this process actually takes. I think mine was to be
processed at the Texas Center. Thanks again for taking the time to
reply.

You can make an Infopass appointment to inquire about the delay.

Hi,

I would make an Infopass appt if I were you. I had my interview and got my PP stamped in July 05 and hadn't received my GC by October 05. I called the misinformation line and they said they would start an investigation into what was going on. In January 06 I received a letter saying that the outcome of the investigation was "Your case in in suspense until your interview". But I had already had my interview and been approved!

Anyhow, an Infopass appt got it sorted out. Aparrently the photos I gave them at the interview were not in my file, so they couldn't order the GC. How long this would have just sat there before they contacted me is anybody's guess. I had to go back to the district office again, with photos in hand, sign a small piece of card, then about a week later I received the "Welcome to the US" letter, then about a week after that, the GC.

I guess the point is, you have to be proactive and get on their case when things don't seem to be progressing. Sometimes it will be simply because they are so backed up, other times it will be because of they are incompetent.

You should make an enquiry at an Infopass appt, IMHO...

Thanks Aussie . In my case it was after the conditions were removed,
the I-751 processing didn't take but a week but I guess there are
delays to process the actual Card, I will make an Infopass appt to
speak with an officer. Anyways thanks for the advice. Aprreciate it a
lot.
