Hello,

I wanted to know if there is any problem of applying for a US green card for a person
holding canadian permanent resident status, but who is working in the USA on a H1
visa for the past 6 months.

Will the presence of a PR status from another country create problems for the US
immigration process ?

I know that later one can choose to be a PR of only one country at a time, what I
want to know is if having PR from another country is detrimental to the process of
getting a US PR status ?

thanks s

You may already have lost that Canadian PR status by being out for 6 months.

Hello Stuart,

I just got the canadian PR status a month ago and I have spent most of the time in
Canada, but my I cannot continue to hold off the absence from the job in the US
for too long.

My Q was does the Canadian PR status affect the US green card processing in any way,
good or bad ?

thanks s

Not that I've heard of from colleagues though I don't know from personal experience
since I am a native born Canadian.
