Default Canadian on L-1A, any time frame?

Well, I have been in USA since 2002 on L-1A and expires Jan 2010. I have search this forum and found that some got GC as short as 8 weeks! Do you have any info regarding time frame, specially for Canadian citizens ( special rules may apply due NAFTA)
Thanks

NAFTA makes no difference from the point of view of getting a green card.
Are you Canadian born?

If not, being born in certain countries (which oversubscribe their green card allocation) can slow the process down, but this is not an issue for first preference green card.

Have you looked on www.trackitt.com for an idea of timelines. You would probably be an EB1C application like us.

I think the 8 weeks was me. That was from the date of filing, it took around a month to get all the paperwork together, medicals, Birth certificates etc. I'm a Brit, so I can't speak to differences for Canadians.

My Lawyer was also surprised at the efficiency, so don't take it as standard, but definately get the process underway.

we submitted at beginning of feb and have had EAD's and advance parole docs back but nothing else and its been over 8 weeks - so it clearly isnt processed that fast for everyone. Our lawyer is guestimating about a year in total (but presumes no hold up at anything like name checks).

And our receipt date is 18th December. We're hoping for about 8 months looking at Trackitt but our lawyer says 12-18 months.

Well, NAFTA makes a little easier to optain L1A, in my case, as I got it right at the spot at the border(buffalo NY), and renew it at the border every two years(1st one for a year), all like in 15 minutes. But I can see from responses that it does not make difference getting GC.I got most of my papers together and ready to apply within a week.I will keep updating.
Thanks for your responses.

This made me curious... and I have to thank you! I wasn't aware that you could get an L-1A via NAFTA, so I learned something today!

How is what he described anything to do with NAFTA? I thought it was more because Canadians can not have visas, with a very few exceptions (K among them).

I got my green card at the end of January from an L1-A - it took almost 18 months. I was a fairly regular poster on trackitt (mentioned by someone else in this thread) and one of the other posters waiting at the same time as me was from Canada - his application ended up taking around 20 months total - being from Canada didn't seem to make any difference to the green card process.

NAFTA makes no difference to L1-A as far as I know, but some who don't qualify for L can transfer on TN status instead.

I apoligize whom I made the impression that NAFTA has anything to do with L-1A visas, what I meant was it just made easier to get the status because of extensive trade dealing with two countries. It just allows goods flow faster without much paperwork etc.

I have talked to a lawyer today;bad newsDocuments from last 12 months are the most important (and required) to determine whether to get ok or not. I have a small company that imports materials to US from Canada and frankly due the recent crisis that part of the business not great; last 3 years, forced me to reduce the employers to minimum, hire contract co's etc.even relocate the US side of the business to TX from East Coast.Obviously this is normal for business;even for large companies.(unlike them we don't have BAIL OUT option) My company finances in red for 3 years in a row.But it is business and like anything else in this world, there are ups and downs.I believe it will be ok in a short time, within 3 to 5 years, most of us will forget about these days. The question here is; is my numbers affect the outcome? In order to get approved for GC is it necessary the company making huge profits, even have reserve finances to able to pay?
Any output appreciated.
