Does anyone understand the steps involved with relocating south of the border ideally looking at Florida IBEW member.

What's the story on healthcare has it all been sorted out????

Look at your immigration status issue, first. I doubt you'll make it as an employee. Are you interested in being an employer?

Could be, really depends on whats required & involved. Will have Canadian citizenship before I leave and moderate funds.

E2 visa -- the visa from hell! FAQs here: http://investorvisausa.com/

Further, look for any openings here: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pulaski_Simplified

Canadian citizenship gives you:
* visa-free tourist travel to the US
* TN-status for certain professions (think degrees rather than tradesfolks, though
Probably not much help if you're wanting to live here.

Why do you want to relocate?

Even with Canadian citizenship, I think you will find that relocating to the US will be extremely difficult at best. Fatbrit's given you good links to examine. Note that electrician isn't on the TN list.

As for health care, nothing has been sorted out. Most working Americans who have health insurance are getting it from their employer. Not all employers offer it, though. It's possible to buy your own policy if you're young, healthy, with no pre-existing conditions. But I wouldn't worry about health care yet - finding a visa that you qualify for is going to be your biggest burden. We need more information about your personal circumstances, though. Have a university degree? Any close American relatives?
