Canada less than 30 days Does the airline take the I-94?
Hi,
I will be travelling to Canada for 5 days. I have the approved H1-B
petition from my Univeristy. My university tells me that I am eligible
for automatic revalidation.
However, I need the I-94 (attached to the petition) to get back into
the US.
1) Does the airline take the 1-94?
2) If they do take it, is it arrival (to canada) or departure (to US)?
3) What do I do if they take it?
Thanks in advance.

They shouldn't, but I have heard of cases where they made a mistake.
Make sure they give it back to you at checkin.

If you did want to surrender the I-94, it would be to the airline. At a
land border, it would be Canadian immigration.

They pass it on to USCIS.

They shouldn't in a case like this if you have a ticket to return
within 30 days.
> 2) If they do take it, is it arrival (to canada) or departure (to US)?
They would take it when you check in for the journey across
the border.
> 3) What do I do if they take it?
Ask them to give it you back.
