Question Can more than one relative file a GC petition for anyone ?

Hi...
Can more than one relative file a greencard petition for anyone ? Will it not affect the chances of getting a GC sooner ? one more question. How many years does it take to finally get a GC if a PR holder files for his son under 18 ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

More than one relative [or employer for that matter] can file for an alien. In fact, it is advisable IMHO.

Length of time? I'm not in the crystal ball business. However, absent the facts underlying your question, I am wondering why son is not entitled to "FTJ" classification.

Because, the parents and the under 18 son are beneficiaries of an older US citizen sibling.

Hi:

Got it. Do have BOTH parents file an I-130. I can tell you that is advisable from experience.

OK, will get both parents to file the I-130 .

Would there be a problem of the under 18 son "aging out" in this case?

Hi:

What has age 18 got to do with it? Just curious.

As to whether or not they will be reached before they turn 21 is another question -- and I have yet to completely figure out CSPA yet. BTW, he should NOT, repeat NOT get married before a parent naturalizes. In order to make myself clear, if he marries before a parent naturalizes, this constitutes a revocation of the visa petition.

There is another thread going where person just got her derivative green card and she wanted to know how to quickly bring in her husband who she had married before she obtained LPR status.
