Bringing a relative?

I am in the process of having the conditions removed from my residency status.
Two years ago, my son stayed with his father in Canada. I would like to bring him
here at this time. He would also have an opportunity to work for my husband's
company. He is 18 and just finished high school.
Can anyone advise the best approach? I have gone in circles on the INS site and am
still unsure which route to take. If someone could suggest the route which applies I
could at least start to concentrate on the details of that.
I have also been reading in some places, that any opportunity for him to become
employed here, could take upwards of 7-10 years.
The two options seem to be to file an I-130 or apply for something termed
"following-to-join benefits" -I-824.
Thanks for any help Vee
