Hi,

Does anyone know whether we get the Naturalization certificate immediately after the
Oath ceremony ? This is for Boston, I cleared the interview last month and my oath
ceremony is next week. I want to apply for the K1 visa for my fiancee, but cant do so
till I get the Naturalization certificate.

Has anyone been naturalized recently in Boston and remembers ?

Thanks in advance, Carl

Happens even before you officially take the oath !! You will be asked to bring along
your original Resident Alien Card. You hand over that and get the Nat.Cert. in
exchange. In some ceremonies, this happens as you get ushered into the (judge's/INS)
chamber. Depending on the local office budget, there will also be a small flag, a
minibook containing the declaration of independence, the articles of the bill of
rights and the constitution etc.. in a packet.

True, true .. but this is specifically about Boston - the policy is different in
different offices, some offices mail the certificate after 2-3 weeks, some places
give it to you right away as you point out. Whats the deal with boston ?

Hi, Sorry I'm not in Boston. But I just attended the oath ceremony in Arlington, VA.
After I signed in, they took my greencard. Then, after the oath and speech, the last
thing we did was getting up there to receive a cetificate (and a small flash and
everybody just walked out, row by row. (about 150 people that day) It's an awesome
ceremony, and the head of naturalization department of D.C. gave a wonderful speech!
I'm touched!

An here I thought the Judge who swore you in had nothing on under that robe.

(Seriously, I thought maybe you meant your picture was taken...)

Hi AgentT,

I am afraid I missed your last post. Could you kindly repost it or send me an email
please ? Did you have your oath in Boston and did you get the naturalization
certificate on the same day ?

Thanks !

Carl, I saw this website and someone posted about his Naturalization Experience in
Boston. He stated that he received the certificate at the oath ceremony !!!
