Hi all,

I'm needing to attend a business conference in New York shortly.
I am a South African national living in the UK on a spousal visa.

I believe I just need to set up an appointment with the US embassy for application etc. The waiting time for the appointment in London is roughly 3-4 days...

What I need to know is how long does the approval process traditionally take? Does anyone know?

It will be a very straightforward application from my end with all the necessary supporting documents etc.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming no issues, you'll likely know whether or not you've been approved that day.


That's great... unless you have any prior overstay issues in the US, or any sort of criminal background, or any of a half-dozen or so other reasons (including your name being similar to some terrorist's name) - and if any of that happens, your application will be placed in "Administrative Processing" and that could take a while. But, as I said... assuming no issues, you'll know almost immediately.
